The original team name was Attack, and it returned to MASL. The team then joined the Kansas City Attack in 1993 and won two championships in the NPSL in 1997. After that, the team moved to Atlanta and changed its name to the Attack. The following year, they continued playing soccer in the Atlanta arena, but the team folded after the next season in 1990. In 1981, the Comets made their debut playing games at Kemper Arena, which was renamed Crosby R. Kemper Arena.

In 1965, the original Kansas City Monarchs, which held the record for being the longest-running franchise in the history of baseball’s Negro Leagues, ultimately disbanded. In 2021, the historic Negro Leagues team from Kansas City, which now goes by the name Monarchs, made a comeback. From 2003-2019, the team played as the T-Bones. As a member of the American Association of Professional Baseball, which is an MLB Partner League, the team now plays under its new name.
