According to insiders, the federal inquiry into the president’s son has entered a “crucial phase,” with officials allegedly considering potential accusations against Hunter Biden.
Hunter Biden, 52, could face charges related to possible tax violations or more seriously, foreign lobbying violations, Fox News and CNN reported.
Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump, is currently leading an investigation into the financial affairs and international commercial transactions of Hunter Biden, which could potentially result in charges.
Outlets informed insiders that the inquiry has progressed to a stage where Weiss and the Justice Department are examining the potentiality of bringing charges against President Biden’s son for different tax infractions and/or violations related to lobbying activities conducted abroad.
They are also considering a potential charge of making a false statement in relation to Hunter Biden’s purchase of a firearm.
No conclusive determination has been reached yet, though the ongoing investigation, initiated in 2018, is still in progress.
Hunter Biden recently issued a payment of approximately $2 million to the IRS as a gesture of acknowledging his outstanding tax liabilities.
Some of his overseas transactions had been labeled as “suspicious” by financial establishments, and his business ventures led him to collaborate with businessmen from China and Russia.
The Reports of Suspicious Activity are not considered as a Criminality mark, but they may well be a part of tax investigation or money laundering filings. However, a SAR could be involved.
It was acknowledged that there was an ongoing federal investigation into the tax affairs of Hunter Biden, weeks after the 2020 presidential election.
“I am confident that my objective and professional review of these matters will demonstrate that I have appropriately and legally handled my affairs, including the benefit of tax advisors, said Biden in December 2020. However, I take this matter very seriously.”
Detractors of the White House have claimed that President Joe Biden may have been aware of or participated in his son’s dubious business dealings.
Republicans in the Senate and House have said that they plan to launch their own probe into the possible involvement of the president if they retake Congress in November’s midterm elections.
