He started his football career at American Heritage School in Delray Beach, FL, before moving on to play college ball at the University of Florida in Atlantic.
Devin, a sophomore in 2017, led division I FBS players in rushing yards (1,920), points scored (198), combined rushing and receiving touchdowns (33), and rushing touchdowns (32).
In the history of college football, he held the sixth-highest number of rushing touchdowns up until that moment. The ambitious and youthful Devin declared his plan to enter the 2019 NFL Draft in the subsequent December.
In the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Singletary was picked up by the Buffalo Bills as the 74th overall pick.
He joined the group of LeSean McCoy and Frank Gore, taking over the role of McCoy–who was released during preseason cuts.
In 2020, when Frank Gore became a free agent, Zack Moss was selected to join Singletary in the backfield.

During the 1980s, he acquired the nickname “The Defensive Backbone” and was selected in the second round of the 1981 NFL Draft.

Singletary was the youngest of ten siblings to Charles and Rudell, his parents.
The family of 12 lived in a modest wood-framed property next to the door of God’s Church that Mike’s father built.
Sadly, Mike’s older brother, Dale, died unexpectedly of asphyxiation after fumes from a coal stove filled the room he was sleeping in.
While Mike didn’t have a strong relationship with his father, Grady Singletary filled the role of a father figure in his younger years.
Grady guided him away from drinking and smoking and fostered his passion for soccer.
In the footsteps of Bob Lilly and Lee Roy Jordan, Grady frequently motivated his young protégé to pursue his aspirations, and together they would observe the Dallas Cowboys.
Tragedy would strike the Singletary family once more several years later, when Grady was involved in a six-car collision.
The intoxicated driver who caused the crash survived without injury, but Grady tragically lost his life.
Singletary was committed to chasing his dreams with or without Grady as his companion, and by the time he reached ninth grade at Evan E. Worthington Middle School, he had already built a reputation for himself on the football field.
Grant Teaff, the future mentor, earned a scholarship to Baylor University under the guidance of Baylor coach. He was an all-state linebacker in high school, specifically at Worthing.
Singletary was drafted by the Chicago Bears, the team from Chicago, in the years 1985 and 1988. He played college football for Baylor Bears before that.
