Zakk Sabbath, a band that covers Black Sabbath, has recorded and performed with Zakk Wylde, who is also a solo artist. Additionally, Wylde was the vocalist and lead guitarist of the short-lived side project Glory & Pride, and he was also a co-founder of the heavy metal label Black Label Society. Wylde is best known as the lead guitarist for rock star Ozzy Osbourne. He is also an occasional actor and a multi-instrumentalist songwriter with a net worth of $14 million.
Solo Career
It wasn’t until twenty years later that Wylde finally unveiled his second solo album, a follow-up named “Book of Shadows II.” The record showcases a more mellow and unplugged genre of music, which stands in stark contrast to his previous collaborations with Ozzy Osbourne and Black Label Society. Wylde’s inaugural solo album, “Book of Shadows,” was released in 1996.
Other Projects
Since 2014, Wylde has been the frontman of a Black Sabbath tribute band called Zakk Sabbath and recently joined the reunited heavy metal group Pantera as a substitute guitarist for the late Dimebag Darrell, alongside Rob Nicholson and Joey Castillo.
Black Label Society
Black Label Society released their album “Doom Crew Inc.” In 2021. They went on to release several more albums including “Catacombs of the Black Vatican,” “The Song Remains Not the Same,” “Shot to Hell,” “Hangover Music Vol. VI,” and “1919 Eternal.” In early 2001, they followed up with the live album “Alcohol Fueled Brewtality Live!! +5,” which was recorded at the Troubadour in West Hollywood. Their second album, “Stronger Than Death,” was released in 2000. Black Label Society’s debut studio album, “Sonic Brew,” was first released in Japan in 1998 and then in the United States the following year. In 1998, Wylde founded the heavy metal band Black Label Society and has since served as their lead guitarist, lead vocalist, and songwriter and producer.

Guest Appearances
During the 2000s, Wylde made appearances on various albums such as Damageplan’s “New Found Power,” Dope’s album, and Fozzy’s “All That Remains.” He also made a guest appearance on Blackfoot’s “After the Reign” a few years later. In 1991, Wylde did a guitar solo on the album “Bite Down Hard” by Britny Fox. Additionally, Wylde has collaborated with keyboardist Derek Sherinian on multiple solo albums. He has also contributed guitar solos to the albums “Built to Last” by the Rippingtons and “Good for Sumthin” by Eric Gales. Among his other credits, Wylde has made guest appearances.
Wylde has made numerous live performances as a guest during appearances. He appeared on stage at the Great Woods Amphitheatre in Mansfield, Massachusetts, with the Allman Brothers Band and Brand Brothers in the summer of 1993. He also appeared on stage with Guns N’ Roses at the Black Label Society opening act in Indianapolis, Indiana. In late 2014, he appeared on the “Experience Hendrix 2014” tour alongside artists such as Billy Cox, Buddy Guy, and Eric Johnson.
Ozzy Osbourne
Wylde took over from Jake E. Lee as the primary guitarist for singer Ozzy Osbourne in the late 1980s. His distinctive black-and-white, bull’s-eye-painted Gibson Les Paul Custom guitars quickly gained recognition. Wylde’s first album with Osbourne was “No Rest for the Wicked” in 1988. Following that, he contributed to the 1990 live album “Just Say Ozzy,” the 1991 studio album “No More Tears,” and the 1993 live album “Live & Loud.” Joe Holmes took over as Osbourne’s lead guitarist after the release of “Ozzmosis” in 1995. Wylde made a comeback in 2001 with the album “Down to Earth,” and the following year he appeared on the live album “Live at Budokan.” Since then, Wylde has been featured on Osbourne’s albums “Black Rain” and “Patient Number 9.” In 2012, he also joined the Ozzy and Friends Tour and participated in select dates of Osbourne’s 2017 summer tour as a member of Osbourne’s band.
Film Career
Wylde has appeared in a few films over the years. In the 2001 film musical “Rock Star,” he played the lead guitarist of a fictional band called Dragon Steel. Starring Jennifer Aniston and Mark Wahlberg, “Rock Star” also featured Wylde. In the 2010 film “Bones,” he had a larger role, playing the uncle of the titular character Jimmy Bennett.
Pride & Glory
In early 1998, the band The D’Angelo reunited for a one-off show at the Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood, California, after disbanding in 1994. Greg and LoMenzo James, former members of Glory & Pride, formed a side project with Lion White. Similarly, Wylde, another member of Glory & Pride, formed a side project with Lion White during Osbourne’s Ozzy tour in 1991.
Early Life and Education
Zakk Wylde, born as Jeffrey Wielandt on January 14, 1967, grew up in Bayonne, New Jersey, where he attended Jackson Memorial High School. As a teenager, he played the guitar almost nonstop and was a member of the local band Stone Henge.
Personal Life
Alongside his wife Barbaranne, whom he wedded in 1992, Wylde has four children named Hayley, Jesse, Hendrix, and Sabbath.
