Summary
Tornadoes occurred near Shawnee, Bethel Acres, Pink, Etowah, and Tinker Air Force Base. One strong tornado caused significant damage and killed three people near the town of Cole in McClain County. At least eight tornadoes were reported in the area, producing large hail ranging from 1 to 3 inches in diameter. Eventually, these thunderstorms developed into supercell storms. Severe weather conditions quickly reached high levels in central and southwestern Oklahoma, as a dryline formed, leading to thunderstorm formation in the late afternoon hours of April 2023.
The storm survey areas for the KMZ file and a map are provided below, located near Lake Stanley Draper and in the Etowah-Pink-Stella region, the Shawnee-Bethel Acres region, and Cole. Currently, teams are carrying out surveys to assess storm damage.
