Jackie Cruz portrayed the character Marisol ‘Flaca’ Gonzales on the television series Orange Is the New Black
Flaca, one of the youngest inmates at Litchfield, was known for her love of dark eyeliner, correcting people’s grammar and speech, and being a fan of The Smiths.
The duration of Flaka’s incarceration remains unknown, but she was imprisoned for Fraud, Endangerment, and Embezzlement.
She was closest friends with Maritza Ramos and the duo were recognized as Flaritza.
Flaca and Maritza achieved social media fame in the show after producing beauty videos within the prison during the riot and sharing them on YouTube.
At the conclusion of the disturbance, supporters holding signs and expressing their enthusiasm warmly welcomed Flaca and Maritza as they were escorted out of the correctional facility.
Unfortunately, the closest companions were parted ways following the jail disturbance in season five.
Flaca was transferred to Litchfield Maximum Security after the uprising, and Maritza was released.
Flaca found her place in the kitchen alongside Gloria (Selenis Leyva), Red (Kate Mulgrew), and the rest of the crew in season seven, where they joined forces to run the prison radio. During season six of OITNB, Flaca forms a strong friendship with Cindy (Adrienne C Moore).
Maritza and Flaca were reunited in the seventh season briefly in a heartrending plot.

Maritza witnessed her acquaintance in the kitchen, where Flaca had been assigned to work, and a facility for detaining immigrants had been transformed into a section of Litchfield Max.
Unfortunately, Maritza was apprehended by Immigration authorities after a raid on a club where she was enjoying herself with her friends.
Maritza was apprehended because she lacked identification to verify her status as a citizen of the United States during the raid.
Maritza’s mother even contacted her friend outside the prison to try and get a birth certificate for her, and Flaca tried everything she could to help by smuggling a mobile device.
Maritza, an undocumented citizen from Colombia, was left devastated when Flaca delivered the devastating news that she had been deported, leaving Maritza living in the US.

Jackie Cruz, previously known as Jacqueline Chavez, is a Dominican-American performer and vocalist.
Cruz was raised in both Los Angeles, California and Santiago, Dominican Republic, and is fluent in both English and Spanish languages.
At the age of 17, Cruz experienced a collapsed lung and slipped into a coma for 72 hours after being in a car accident that was almost fatal.
Consequently, she was required to undergo brain surgery and had to regain the ability to walk and communicate.
