Michigan State Basketball once again is starting to build an impressive schedule for the upcoming season and the Spartans still have time to add to their already tough nonconference schedule.
The Michigan State Spartans may have to compete with Purdue, Maryland, and Wisconsin for the conference title in the Big Ten. Furthermore, they will face challenging opponents from the ACC, Big East, and Pac-12 in their non-conference matches this year, making their schedule quite demanding. The men’s basketball team of Michigan State Spartans is scheduled to commence the 2023-24 season sometime in early November.
The Spartans will bring back several important players from last year’s team, such as A.J. Hoggard, Tyson Walker, Jaden Akins, and Malik Hall. Additionally, Michigan State will introduce a group of skilled freshmen to their roster, including highly regarded recruits Xavier Booker, Jeremy Fears, and Coen Carr, who will contribute explosiveness and depth to an already talented and seasoned team.
In the previous season, a squad that made it to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament possessed abundant skill from a well-rounded lineup. The primary factor is that the Spartans possess the capability to not only become a highly competent team this year, but also transform into an exceptional team that advances to the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament by the conclusion of the season.
If they can stay healthy and play together, Tom Izzo, the Hall of Fame coach, is expected to lead them to a trip to Phoenix to compete in the NCAA Tournament for the national championship. However, they may not only be a contender for the Big Ten title, but also have the opportunity to earn the championship title.
The upcoming season will feature a competitive slate of ten Big games and a demanding non-conference schedule. The Spartans will be frequently tested early in this season. If they can stay healthy and play together, they have the potential to win a national championship in 2024 and dethrone Purdue for the Big Ten title.
Now, let’s examine the information we have about the Spartans’ 2023-24 season.
Duke and Michigan State will face off in a preseason match-up with the potential to be a top-five showdown, as part of the Champions Classic at the United Center in Chicago.

Historical Background and Game Forecasting
Duke has emerged triumphant in three out of the most recent five matchups against the Spartans. These two schools have competed in the last five games.
The Blue Devils currently hold a one-game winning streak between these two programs, as they emerged victorious in the last game played between these two schools.
In the NCAA Tournament last March, Michigan State and Duke schools met on a neutral court, with Duke defeating Michigan State by a final score of 76-85.
Michigan is predicted to win in overtime with a score of 95-93. This game is expected to be reminiscent of last season’s match-up against a highly skilled Kentucky team. The Spartan’s veteran leadership and experience should give them the edge to secure a close victory against Duke in this highly anticipated non-conference game.
