There is a fresh addition to New York’s drill rap scene making waves.
Ice Spice, a lady from The Bronx, is not one of the emerging talents out of Brooklyn this time.
Word started to circulate about the rapper who is half-Dominican and half-Black in 2021 when she gained popularity for participating in Erica Banks’ “Buss It” challenge. Subsequently, she demonstrated her talent and success when her music gained significant attention earlier this summer, particularly with songs like “No Clarity” and “Name Of Love.” She proved that she was more than just an attractive face. The rapper’s journey began to take off, garnering attention and admiration.
She delivers captivating choruses while rapping about her romantic struggles, yet listeners are greeted with a mellower tone as both tracks showcase deep basslines reminiscent of the numerous captivating ones commonly found in the New York drill scene.
Drake, the ultimate cosign from God 6 himself, agreed to show some of his tracks on her radio show in Toronto. She’s even hanging out with him. Currently, her viral hit “Feelin’ (Munch)” has over 4 million views on YouTube. With her producer RIOT, she started taking over New York radio with her songs “Name and “Love” and “Clarity” No “As.”
DJ Booth recently carried out an interview with the emerging rapper, in which she talked about her growing profession and the appeal of Bronx drill music.
They are captivated by our culture, in its unrefined state. People are genuinely intrigued by our culture, you know? Our parents hail from this place, our grandparents hail from this place, she shared with DJ Booth in July. I believe individuals are curious about its true nature, about the fact that everyone here is truly from here. This is partly due to Cardi B putting the Bronx in the spotlight once again, particularly for women. Additionally, it is because the Bronx remains the final borough that preserves its authenticity.
Aside from Spice’s bars, she’s also got people mesmerized in her occasional thirst trap videos on Instagram, no stranger to the attention.
