At the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval, spanning a distance of 2½ miles, the 200-lap competition is set to take place on Sunday, May 28th. Presenting the lineup for the 2023 edition of the Indianapolis 500.
The Indy 500 starting lineup features 11 rows of 3 drivers each, established through two days of qualifying. Alex Palou has the fastest pole position speed in race history at 234.217 mph. The field average of 232.184 mph is the fastest in race history.
The Fast Six determined velocities for Rows 1-2 on May 21, and the Fast 12 determined velocities for Rows 3-4; velocities for Rows 5-10 were established on May 20; Row 11’s velocity was determined in last opportunity qualifying on May 21.
All cars use Firestone tires and the Dallara chassis. The average speed for qualifying is based on a 4-lap run and the team’s engine. The winner of the Indy 500 will be determined by the rookie driver’s name and car number. The starting position will also be included.
