Tom Brady says he is retiring from football ‘for good’

Tom Brady, the star quarterback who won seven Super Bowls and set numerous records during his illustrious 23-year career in the NFL, announced his retirement from football.

Brady revealed his choice on social media on Wednesday, stating that he wouldn’t alter anything about his professional journey.

Brady, who is 45 years old, announced his retirement on February 1, 2022, before changing his mind 40 days later and deciding to return to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this past season.

“I know the process was a pretty big deal last time, so when I woke up this morning, I figured I’d just press record and let you guys know first,” Brady said in a video on Twitter.. “I won’t be long-winded. You only get one super emotional retirement essay, and I used mine up last year, so really thank you guys so much to every single one of you for supporting me.”

On Wednesday, the Buccaneers informed Brady of their decision at 6 a.M. ET, along with their appreciation, as tweeted by Jeff Darlington from ESPN’s The Buccaneers. #ThankYouTom

“The Glazer family, which owns the Buccaneers, said in a statement that Brady set an exceptional standard, elevating our entire organization to new heights and creating some of the most iconic moments in our history.”

The Glazer family expressed, “We will forever be grateful for the unforgettable memories he provided during his legendary career, and Tom’s impact will be felt within our community for many years to come.”

In his third season with Tampa Bay, Brady threw for 4,694 yards – the third highest in the NFL – and 25 touchdowns this previous season. The three-time league MVP concludes his career as the NFL’s top player in career passing yards (89,214) and touchdown throws (649), having won six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots and one with the Buccaneers.

On Wednesday, Robert Kraft, the owner of the Patriots, informed Mike Reiss of ESPN, “Throughout the 100-year-long history of the NFL, I have never witnessed a quarterback with the same caliber as Tom. I would find it challenging to believe that there will ever be another one, although I cannot be certain.”

Brady is the only competitor to come out triumphant in more than five Super Bowls and has been honored with the designation of Super Bowl MVP on five instances.

“I adore all of you.” “I wouldn’t alter a single aspect. I express my gratitude to all of you for granting me the opportunity to pursue my ultimate aspiration. My loved ones, my companions, my fellow players, my rivals – the list is endless, there are numerous,” Brady expressed in the video.

Brady, who founded his own production company called TB12 Productions, also launched a successful clothing brand called TB12 last summer. In addition, he signed a $10-year, $375 million contract with Sports Fox, allowing him to begin working as an analyst immediately.

The season for the Bucs marked the end of a 13-year marriage between Gisele Bundchen and Brady, following their recent divorce. These two superstars have individually reached the highest levels in both football and fashion.

Brady participated in a single match during his first year as a professional, successfully executing one out of three throws for a total of 6 yards – he was selected as the 199th overall pick in the 2000 draft by the Patriots, trailing behind six additional quarterbacks, three kickers, and a punter – gaining significant recognition for being undervalued upon entering the NFL.

The following year, everything was different.

Bill Belichick, the coach of the New England Patriots, was well on his way to becoming the most successful quarterback-coach in football history. He capped off the 2001 season by beating the Rams in the Super Bowl, and Brady took over as the starting quarterback.

“I congratulate him on his amazing career with the Patriots and thank Tom for his positive impact on me. Throughout his career, Tom carried himself with true professionalism, integrity, and class. He was a true professional who inspired and motivated both coaches and teammates. His work ethic and desire to win were both inspirational and motivational. On a daily basis, his relentless pursuit of excellence drove him. He leaves a legacy as the most successful player in NFL history with little fanfare. In a statement, Belichick said Tom Brady was the ultimate winner.”

In addition to his 251 wins, 10 Super Bowl appearances, 48 playoff games, 35 playoff wins, 13,400 playoff yards, and 88 playoff touchdowns, Brady also holds the all-time NFL records for regular-season.

Kraft informed Reiss that having a chip on his shoulder was truly unique for him. He managed to defy the odds despite not being the starting player. Fortunately, this worked out in our favor as we were able to acquire him in the later stages of the sixth round. Unfortunately, things didn’t go well for him at Michigan. This serves as a reminder to all the young individuals who have ambitious aspirations.

Over a period of five years, an additional three championships were secured during the 2014 campaign, signifying the commencement of the Patriots’ dominance ten years later when they once again reached the pinnacle of football for a fourth time in Brady’s reign. Following the 2003 and 2004 seasons, further victories in the Super Bowl ensued.

“Your football team has always made the finest choice,” Kraft said to Reiss. “He was absolutely correct, you know,” I said. “You are the person I am acquainted with,” I said. “Mr. Kraft, I am Tom Brady, the player you selected in the sixth round of the draft,” Brady said as he walked over to me. Late at night, as I see him walking down the steps of the old Foxboro Stadium, he looks like a tall and skinny beanpole, with his arm wrapped around a pizza. This reminds me of a flashback I had.”

Brady, who spent his previous three years with Tampa Bay, led the Buccaneers to the playoffs in each of those seasons. In 2020, he joined the Buccaneers and emerged victorious in his seventh Super Bowl.

Former Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians told ESPN’s Jenna Laine that his fondest memory with Brady was “holding that Lombardi with him.”.

“His imPrint. on this organization helped take us to the mountaintop,” Bucs GM Jason Licht said in a statement. “We will certainly miss him as our quarterback, but I will also miss him as a leader and friend. Our entire organization is indebted to him for what he provided us over the past three years. We won’t ever forget the wins or the accolades and his influence will be felt for years to come.”
