The couple remained tight-lipped about the details of their wedding, but finally, in 2022, they came forward to share the long-awaited and highly anticipated event with the media and their loved ones. After months of speculation and media frenzy, the details of the wedding have finally been revealed.
All the arrangements for the silent wedding remained a secret. In addition, Alia Bhatt and Sunny Leone were roped in as bodyguards. Yusuf Ibrahim orchestrated the security and location arrangements with the Mumbai police, turning Alia and Ranbir’s residence in Pali Hill into a fortress. Later, it was revealed that Alia and Ranbir will tie the knot at their ancestral family home in Vastu. Moreover, Karisma Kapoor, Ranbir’s cousin sister, disclosed that the wedding will take place at the RK Studios, which is located right behind their ancestral family home. Initially, it was reported this way.
Despite being in the spotlight, the couple has managed to keep their relationship under wraps effectively. They have been dating for several years, even with the recent release of their movie Brahmastra on the horizon.
The wedding choreographed by the well-known Masterji Rajendra Singh, fondly known as Rajendra, was performed by the Kapoor family’s favorite superstars- Sonam and Kareena Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, and Aishwarya Rai. The celebrations began with the song ‘Rachnewali Hai Mehndi’ and the family members danced to hit tracks from Ranbir Kapoor’s movie ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and Alia’s latest movie ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, including the song ‘Cutiepie’ and ‘Jawani Main Leke Tenu’. The mehndi celebrations took place on April 13th in the afternoon, and it was a traditional affair with dholki players and female dhol crew ensuring that everyone grooved to the performances.
Ranbir accessorized his look with a matching Nehru jacket layered over a pink kurta set, while Alia donned a pink lehenga with refreshing bright floral hues. Her favorite symbol, the infinity sign, was also present, surrounding a simple circular design at the center of her palm. Alia’s minimalistic aesthetic was true to her style, as she also wore delicate floral bracelets on her wrist. Her statement-making jewelry included an ornate maang tikka and an intricate necklace with dropstones and kundan work. Opting for a muted and minimalistic makeup look, Alia added meaningful symbolic touches to her journey. The outfit was customized and stitched together, using a variety of fabrics and real gold zari embroidery, accentuated with multi-colored floral installations. The mehndi was decorated with suspended floral installations, completing Alia’s refreshing and vibrant look.
Several caterers managed the catering responsibilities for the wedding, whereas Elco, a renowned restaurant on Hill Road, provided catering services for the Mehendi event, and it was mentioned that the Kapoors are recognized as enthusiastic food enthusiasts.
According to reports, the couple may choose to close their associate business in celebration of their small and registered wedding, as Alia holds British citizenship. In recent times, many celebrities have opted to skip a formal post-wedding reception altogether and keep their festivities intimate. This might be due to their schedules being swamped with Kapoor Ranbir and Neetu, or perhaps it’s just a rumor. However, an insider has said that the couple has booked the grand Ballroom and Crystal Room at the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai for their reception on the 17th.
A part of the guest list did not include Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. Sahani Kapoor flew down from Delhi with his sister Riddhima. Shweta Bachchan Nanda and her children Agastya and Naveli Nanda, along with her cousins Karishma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, were formally invited by Nikhil Kapoor to the wedding. According to an inside source, Ranbir did not even invite his friends, as it was a family-only affair. The guest list was finalized at the last minute and was extremely limited, just like the other details.
The wedding theme was a rustic enchanted forest, accentuated by lush green foliage and fairy lights, creating a dreamy atmosphere. Alia wore a hand-dyed ivory sari with intricate embroidery work, adding a dash of color. Her accessories included a stunning diamond-studded choker necklace with drop pearls, matching jhumkas and bangles, and an ornate mathapatti. To complete his look, Ranbir donned a regal multistrand pearl necklace accentuated with emeralds and diamonds, crafted by kilangi, along with a matching safa. Adding to the enchanting ambiance, Alia also paired her outfit with a maori zari embroidered shawl, crafted with out of pearls and diamonds.
A genuine family event, the wedding overflowed with blissful moments as the couple playfully exchanged garlands and a quick peck.
The couple changed their red matching outfits to ivory ones and danced away the night to groovy Bollywood numbers during the wedding celebrations. Later in the evening, they made a champagne toast to celebrate the beginning of their new adventure and went on to cut a three-tier cake.
Some of the attendees at the party looked like big shots in the Bollywood industry. Karan Johar, Malaika Arora (his girlfriend), Arjun Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Gauri Khan (Shahrukh Khan’s wife), and actor Ranbir Kapoor were all dressed in dapper black suits. Ranbir looked particularly stylish, while Alia Bhatt dazzled in a short, silver-hued Oscar de la Renta dress. The levels of glamor were elevated as they partied the night away at the reception hosted by the couple after their wedding celebrations at Vastu.
Alia’s intimate friend, who specializes in personalized gift-giving and interior decoration, was entrusted with the responsibility of designing and implementing the gifts and decor by Ranbir and Alia. In contrast to the expectations of many, the couple decided to take a simpler approach instead of collaborating with renowned wedding planners such as Shaadi Squad or Milestones to Memories, who organized Armaan Jain and Anissa Malhotra’s wedding.
