In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actor Tom Holland, who is currently starring in the TV+ Apple series “Crowded Room” as Danny Sullivan and finding success after portraying Spider-Man, tells the reporter that his viral performance of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” on “Lip Sync Battle” in 2017 is what most compliments he gets. Despite having blockbuster projects under his belt, Holland is now higher flying in the weather and continuing to find success, all while dating Zendaya.
The 27-year-old mentioned in the article released on Wednesday (June 14), expressing, “I take pride in it.” “I appreciate the fact that it had a long-lasting effect. It was an extraordinary period.”
The video has been so popular that it has received more than 30 million views since it was released. The actor, who also appeared in the video, catches enough attention on his own, but it is Zendaya who stuns with her racy choreography. In the video, she struts out in a black halter outfit reminiscent of a pop superstar’s costume, complete with fishnet stockings and a black bob wig. Holland, the actor, starts off his performance in a tie and suit, showing off his fancy footwork as he kicks off his dance moves. It even includes a nod to Gene Kelly’s iconic performance in “Singin’ in the Rain,” with umbrellas and a fancy dance routine.
“I will put on some fishnets and dance in the rain, saying ‘Yeah, I was just being forward-thinking, I didn’t realize what I was doing.’ THR told me that I have grown up in the most non-toxic-masculine environment possible, but Holland denied that it was a statement about toxic masculinity. We were chatting about the sexy outfit he wore for Battle Sync Lip.”
Holland stated, “Simply because I have no desire to participate in a television show that is unnecessary for me, I would prefer to engage in a game of golf and enjoy my personal life.” He added, “You would never find me engaging in such an activity at present.” Holland dampens any expectations regarding his potential involvement in another event similar to Lip Sync Battle.
And on the topic of hitting the green, the actor shared that he not only regularly plays golf, but he also goes golfing with Zendaya, whom he met on the set of Homecoming: Spider-Man in 2017, where they co-starred as love interests. She’s a very talented athlete, naturally gifted, and I’ve offered her a few lessons.
The Hollywood Reporter was told that our relationship is possibly as important as something sacred that we want to keep. We are incredibly protective of it. He said that he wouldn’t share much more about winning the Golden Globe, but it doesn’t have anything to do with our careers. We don’t think that we owe anyone anything.
