The skyline of our cities has always been defined by those who have ostentatiously held power in each era, with private skyscrapers being the literal representation of their status. In the past few decades, these institutions, followed by churches, have been the ones that have reached the highest, breaking records and pushing the limits. Humanity has become obsessed with breaking these limits and establishing new records, solely for the purpose of surpassing them.
The tallest building in the world is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Nowadays, all of them over 150 meters high, the CTBUH (Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat) constantly updates the listing with over 5,000 of the world’s tallest buildings.
