Jennifer Grey, the lead actress in the film Dirty Dancing, has disclosed the factors that influenced her choice to decline the opportunity to reprise her role on the television series Friends.
The actor guest-starred as Rachel’s ex-fiancé Barry in the sitcom in 1995, eventually marrying her best friend and maid of honor, Jennifer Aniston.
Grey starred in the one episode entitled “The Evil Orthodontist” and now has opened up about why she was replaced by another actress in later episodes of Friends.
“When I did it, I had such bad anxiety because they kept changing the script,” she said in an interview with MediaVillage.
“Figuring it all out can be very hard, especially if you’re not a star guest because it’s part of it.”
The performer revealed her anxiety regarding the show’s process of crafting the story.

“It all made me so nervous that I could hardly accomplish it.”
Jennifer proceeded to clarify that she now recognizes she had an undisclosed issue with anxiety.
I had a lot of performance anxiety at that time, and she didn’t just understand that I needed help in the department of anxiety.
The actor stated, “I was simply too frightened.” Grey clarified that she also declined an offer to appear on Saturday Night Live due to comparable concerns.
Speaking about her time on Friends, she explained she felt she couldn’t reprise the role and they had to hire another actor.
She remembered saying, “the part someone else got they.” It makes me sad that I can’t continue doing Live Night Saturday or Friends because of my anxiety.
“However, I could only arrive at that place when I actually arrived. To be honest, I longed for individuals who could assist me in maneuvering through such a daunting feeling.”
The life of a party can be fun, but even if you don’t learn much from your successes and failures, I always learn more from things that make you feel like a “continued Grey”.
