HOME Alone is one of the most iconic Christmas films ever made.
But fans of the holiday film often wonder if Donald Trump really did appear in the movie’s sequel, Lost In New York.
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is an essential Christmas film to watch.
Donald Trump made the final cut of the hit film, which featured a scene in the Hotel Plaza that he owned.
New York’s iconic Plaza Hotel is the place where in the film Kevin McCallister, played by Macaulay Culkin, stays and meets Trump.
The youthful actor accumulates a MASSIVE expenditure for the film.
In the iconic scene, Kevin meets Trump in the lobby, which made the Plaza even more famous and came out in 1992 as Home Alone 2.
The young man approaches Trump and inquires, “Pardon me, but where can I find the lobby?”
He’s instructed by a determined Trump: “Go down the hallway and turn left.”
November 2020 commemorated the 30th milestone of the timeless comedy Home Alone.
Trump commemorated his brief appearance during a conversation with military personnel on Christmas Eve, 2019.
“Well I’m in Home Alone 2,” Trump stated.
I don’t see the movie in me as they see me on television, especially young kids – I say, they mention it a lot, especially around Christmas, every year.
I was a little younger and it was mildly challenging to honor it, but it’s been a good movie.
One of the biggest – a big Christmas hit. Obviously, it turned out to be a very big hit, the president continued.
“Therefore, it is a privilege to be engaged in such an endeavor, as one always appreciates witnessing achievements.”
However, when Canadian broadcaster CBC broadcasted the film in 2019, Trump’s prominent appearance was completely absent.
What was the reason for Trump’s appearance in Home Alone 2?
According to Reports Insider, Chris Columbus, the director of Home Alone, claims that Donald Trump forcefully secured his cameo appearance in the movie’s 1992 follow-up by using intimidation tactics.
When TV shows or films are shot on his properties, Trump demands a special payment for his role as a major contributor to the production.
Columbus told Insider the production dealt with Trump because, at the time of filming Home Alone 2, he owned the Plaza Hotel.
He remembered: “We desired to film in the entrance hall – we couldn’t reconstruct The Plaza on a soundstage.”
However, shrewd Trump wanted more than a charge to utilize the hotel as a backdrop.
“We paid the fee, but he also said, ‘The only way you can use the Plaza is if I’m in the movie’.
“So we decided to cast him in the film,” Columbus added.
And, the only reason he made the cut was that during a screening “people cheered when Trump showed up on-screen”, he said.
Therefore, the director instructed his editor to “let him stay… But he did forcefully enter the film”.
According to Matt Damon, there have been numerous occasions where directors have subsequently removed certain parts before filming Trump alongside the cast members.
Which other movies has Trump appeared in?
“If you desired to film in one of his structures, you had to cast him for a role,” stated Matt Damon to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Martin Brest had to compose something in Scent of a Woman – and the entire crew was aware of it.
“You have to spend an hour of your day with a pointless shot.
Then he leaves and Al Pacino says, ‘Greetings, Mr. Trump!’ – You were required to address him by his name – Donald Trump enters.
Chris O’Donnell revealed that Trump’s appearance was removed from the movie Scent of a Woman.
According to Cinema Blend, the New York business tycoon has made appearances in television shows, films, and even professional wrestling.
