Barry Keoghan, who was revealed as the unidentified prisoner in the latest Batman film, has finally spoken out. In the movie, he is credited as the Unseen Arkham Prisoner, with Robert Pattinson playing the main superhero and Paul Dano portraying the Riddler, the villain. However, it turns out that the inmate talking to the Riddler at the end of the film is actually a well-known Batman villain, confirming the theories of many fans. This revelation was shared by Matt Reeves, the director of The Batman. (Also Read: The Batman: Reeves confirms the true identity of Riddler’s new accomplice at the end of the film).
The persona was indeed the Joker, witnessed solely in one sequence, Matt verified. Barry has now disclosed about his depiction of the Clown Prince of Crime. He additionally discussed shooting an additional scene for the film that did not make it to the ultimate edit.
I am in such a fortunate position. I am a fan of these movies, particularly the Batman universe. Therefore, being a part of that world is still unbelievable to me. Additionally, I have great admiration for him as a filmmaker. It is incredible to walk alongside him and witness his work, similar to Chloe Zhao. He creates a comfortable environment on set and accommodates your needs and desires. Being a part of the Batman universe is a significant accomplishment for me. Matt Reeves and Dylan Clark, in particular, have been exceptionally supportive and amazing to me. “He is incredibly talented,” stated Barry in an interview with Esquire Middle East, when asked to comment on Matt Reeves as a filmmaker.
Barry further stated that he is also waiting for the release of the movie they had filmed, in which Matt Reeves had a scene as an extra. “Are we like, well, are we?” Barry asked. He also mentioned that he has watched all of Paul’s movies, including Prisoners. “Well, he’s such a good dude,” Barry added. Barry shared that he is a huge fan of Paul and spoke about working with him on a scene in which Paul partially shows his face as the Joker, while Barry’s character, Riddler, is heard consoling him in his cell after a failed mass murder attempt.
The Joker has previously been played by different actors in films such as Joaquin Phoenix, Jared Leto, Heath Ledger, and Jack Nicholson. I have no idea if or when the character will return in future movies. Here’s the thing, it’s not like there will be a post-credit scene in DC or Marvel movies where we find out where the Joker is going. It’s not an Easter egg or anything like that. What Matt previously clarified is that the actor who will be seen as the Joker in the next movie is not necessarily the same as the one we have seen in any Batman movie before. We have yet to see Barry’s version of the Joker return to the world of Batman.
This is the first time Robert Pattinson has played the role of Batman, which was previously portrayed by Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, George Clooney, Val Kilmer, Michael Keaton, and Adam West. The Indian box office collected ₹22 crore after the release of Batman The in March, during its first weekend.
