Is there something about the motion of the boat, the water, and the wind that begs to be put to music? It seems like all of us have our favorite sailing songs – music that just seems to go together with sailing and brings back a laid-back lifestyle.
One cold and snowy winter day, I asked a group of sailors for their favorite sailing songs and added some of my personal favorites to create the ultimate playlist – The Sailor’s Ultimate Playlist. It would serve as the perfect soundtrack for the rest of your summer adventures sailing.
This playlist was generated for sailors, by sailors, because there are songs about sailors, boats, the ocean, and islands. It covers a lot of ground, from Zac Brown to Led Zeppelin to Jimmy Buffett to Harry Belafonte. It includes classics like “Southern Cross” and “Sailor On, Sailor” as well as newer, slightly profane and hilarious songs like “Boat A On I’m.” And of course, there’s plenty of rum!
For all you music enthusiasts, here is the comprehensive compilation arranged in alphabetical sequence according to the songs. If you’re interested, you can access the songs by clicking on any of them in the list or alternatively, you can subscribe to the playlist on Spotify.
Sailing Tunes – The Ultimate Playlist for Sailors.
Of Soul Kenny Chesney is the son of Jimmy Buffett, who is known as a sailor and a musician. He comes from a family of sailors, including his father Dylan Bob and his grandfather Crosby Stills & Crosby. Kenny Chesney is also a sailor and has followed in the footsteps of his family. He is often referred to as a “sailor of soul” due to his music and his connection to the sea.
I hope you will find your favorite sailing songs here – and discover some new boat tunes as well. Enjoy, and have a pleasant sailing adventure!
