How can the Celtics find a substitute for Danilo Gallin
The top question in the mind of the Boston team is whether Gallinari, who has announced that he has a torn ACL, will likely be sidelined for most, if not all, of his first season with the Celtics.
The idea of signing Anthony Carmelo with the Celtics to gain traction based on the simple fact that he may be the best shooting forward on the market is starting. There appears to be smoke behind the fire and recently, Anthony Carmelo was linked to Boston as a potential free-agent signing, according to Gary Washburn’s report in the Boston Globe.

Anthony, who played for the Los Angeles Lakers last season, averaged 13.3 points per game in just over 26 minutes. He made 37.5 percent of his 3-pointers and had a shooting percentage of 44.1 percent from the floor. Both Gallinari and Anthony have similar offensive skills, particularly when it comes to their strong outside shooting.
In a free-agent market that lacks options, it seems like Anthony could be signed for at least $2.9 million, making him one of the best choices for the veteran. At this stage of their careers, Gallinari appears to be a more well-rounded and taller version of Anthony.
Boston Celtics
While venturing along the trade path, they might consider relinquishing a valuable possession in exchange for a youthful player who can make a significant difference if they so desire. In order to secure Anthony’s signature, the Celtics would need to allocate approximately $13 million towards supplementary taxes and currently exceed the luxury tax threshold, as our Chris Forsberg explained not long ago.
Boston has the best odds to win the NBA championship in 2023, so it should capitalize on this opportunity and do everything in its power to fill the void left by Gallinari. It is likely that the Celtics will take some sort of action to make sure of this.
