When Alan Ritchson, a 6’3″ actor, came in handy, it was the first time he landed the role of Jack Reacher in the new series “Reacher” on Prime Video.
“Ritchson, 39, informed The Post,” and “I am uncertain about the appearance of those,” “In general, I make an effort to remain open to any potential opportunities.”
I feel nice and my natural size is just right. I really feel good. I gained 30 pounds for the role. For the first time, I am able to walk comfortably at my weight and open up. This role suits me. Maybe I can play a doctor or a dad and be around 205 pounds. I don’t walk around or run a lot, but I do a lot of weightlifting. I try to look as average as possible.
“Reacher,” which will debut on Amazon this Friday (Feb. 4), is an adaptation of the wandering protagonist from Lee Child’s highly popular suspense novels. The series centers around Jack Reacher, a seasoned investigator in the military police force, who now embraces civilian existence.
When passing through the small town of Margrave in Georgia, the hulking Reacher finds himself in a world of trouble when he is falsely accused of murder, resulting in an unexpected personal connection and soon becoming entangled in an investigation.
Tom Cruise, who is well-known for his small stature, has also been cast in the lead role in the film adaptations of Child’s Jack Reacher novels, which currently consist of 25 volumes.
Ritchson, who is recognized for his portrayal of Aquaman on “Smallville” and his roles in films like “The Hunger Games” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” expressed, “Once I became involved in the project, I began reading the books and it appeared that I had a promising opportunity.”
“I said, ‘If I was going to be a part of this, I’m very upset. I fell in love with it,’ he said. I’m not just a big fan, but I care very passionately about this franchise. I haven’t read any of Lee’s short stories, and there’s nothing I’ve enjoyed more than reading about this amazing and beloved character. Life to him brings honor, and it’s just incredible.”
Ritchson mentioned that he discovered many areas of agreement with his character.
His love for humor is different from ours, as one of the ways is his brutal honesty. Additionally, I don’t mind having a lot of fun, but I feel bad and care when I am being a wiseass. He might be a bit of a smart-ass, and I regret saying offensive things that I know can be hurtful. When we walk around and share, it gives you a certain kind of confidence that we are both about the same size. Of course, when it comes to physicality, we are also about the same size.
As Ritchson’s father served in the Air Force, he had a complete collection of books at his disposal. Additionally, he delved into his own life to portray the character.
He said, “It inspired my dad more than he probably knows. I brought a lot of Reacher into it. It’s cool to witness. Everything is done with purpose. He moves every means and shakes your hand with a firm grip. He carries himself in a reassuring and confident way. He doesn’t try to be formal. He is just a leader. He doesn’t try to lead. The demanded military discipline, power, and presence are within him.”
Nevertheless, Ritchson mentioned that he avoided the Tom Cruise films released in 2012 and 2016.
I wanted to take a stab at making my own Reacher. I wanted to leave him for that, whatever he’s doing. This was one project where I would take some of his mannerism if I had watched him. He’s like a living legend, an icon, nobody’s like him. I’ve seen all his other movies. I love Tom Cruise.
“This was my opportunity, and I desire to witness a genuine Reacher, for the enthusiasts who adore the novels, as a sign of reverence for That’s.”
