Minnesota police confirm human remains belong to missing mother day after children’s father’s arrest

The missing mother of two, Madeline Kingsbury, was last seen on March 31, police said.

CNN –.

Last week, the police in southeastern Minnesota confirmed that human remains were found in Kingsbury, where Madeline’s mother, who was last seen alive on March 31, was located.

We are thankful to be able to bring Maddie home, said Tom Williams, Chief of Police in Winona, during a conference news on Thursday. We were hoping for something different than this discovery.

Some participants could be heard weeping as Williams delivered the update.

The Winona Police Department arrested the father of Kingsbury’s two children, Adam Fravel, after Officer Madeline Kingsbury’s investigation generated evidence of human remains. The arrest was made on Wednesday based on probable cause.

Authorities stated that he was apprehended “without any trouble.”

During a news conference held on Thursday, officials chose not to provide any additional comments regarding the accusation. According to records obtained from the Winona County Detention Center, he was being held on a charge of second-degree murder, yet the police did not disclose any charges against Fravel.

Williams said on Thursday that the body of her relative, Fravel, was found off a public roadway on a low-maintenance property. The remains of the 26-year-old were discovered in some brush off Highway 43 in neighboring Fillmore County on Wednesday afternoon, according to the police.

“The last 69 days have been frustrating, full of heartache and pain for the family, law enforcement and the community,” Williams said.

The mother also did not show up to pick up her children from daycare that afternoon, as stated by them. On March 31, Kingsbury did not answer calls from the police, friends, or family, and also did not show up for work.

In April, authorities declared that evidence suggests Kingsbury’s disappearance was “unintentional and dubious” and investigators “remain deeply concerned about her welfare.”

Fravel has refuted any connection to Kingsbury’s vanishing

As per court records acquired by CNN, following her disappearance, the Winona County Health and Human Services Department assumed responsibility for Kingsbury’s offspring. Instead of being handed over to their father, a judge decreed in April that the children would continue to be under the care of the county.

As per the court records, Fravel lacked lawful guardianship of the 5 and 2-year-old children before Kingsbury vanished.

This report was contributed by Tina Burnside and Kara Devlin from CNN.
