The popular interactive map, known as America’s Map Dot Racial, which visualizes the distribution of ethnicity and race in the United States, has finally been brought online after being offline for 9 years by Virginia’s University.

The University of Virginia’s Demographics Research Group announced the removal of the map, stating that there are several reasons why the map has now been discontinued. One of these reasons is that the map is no longer accurate in providing the most up-to-date information on the racial composition of America’s population, as it is based on data from the 2010 Census. Another reason is that the map’s data is now outdated, as it does not reflect the release of the 2020 Census data.

Since the release of the census 2020 data, a number of new racial maps have been made available. Therefore, there is no need to despair as there are alternative racial maps available.

CNN has used the 2020 census data to create their own map of America, which visualizes the population density and mix of races and ethnicities in every neighborhood across the country. The interactive map uses colored dots to represent 150 people from a particular ethnic or racial group. The data is mapped to the census tract, and the locations of the colored dots within each tract are randomized.
