RORY MCILROY has made significant progress from his humble childhood residence in Belfast.
The 34-year-old golfer, who competes on the PGA Tour, owns an expansive Florida home that covers an area of 12,800 square feet. The luxurious estate was purchased for a sum of £7.6 million from the celebrated PGA champion, Ernie Els.
McIlroy moved into the golfing capital of the world – Jupiter, in Florida – after selling his old mansion for around £9million.
He purchased his new residence in The Bear’s Club, a golf community established by Jack Nicklaus in 1999 and situated 85 miles north of Miami.
It occurred just a few brief months after he tied the knot with Erica Stoll in a grand wedding ceremony in Ireland.
Moreover, the luxurious estate was under the ownership of renowned individuals before McIlroy acquired it, including its previous owner, Ernie Els.
Els, like Michelle, Donald, and Luke, are fellow golfers, while Venus and Serena Williams reign as tennis royalty. In the extraordinary neighborhood, basketball legend Michael Jordan has also made his home.
Electric Light of a Pad
And somehow McIlroy managed to acquire even additional bathrooms.
The expansive estate covers an area of 12,800 square feet and features seven bedrooms and TEN bathrooms.
A spacious terrace at the rear of the establishment provides a view of a peaceful pool for swimming.
Inside, McIlroy has everything a young multi-millionaire could wish for, with a recording studio, games room, gigantic pool and a home cinema.
However, it is quite a distance from the place where he was raised.
HOUSEHOLD RESIDENCE
Gerry and Rosie, the parents, brought up McIlroy in the family’s four-bedroom residence situated in Holywood, Northern Ireland.
Gerry transformed it into the ideal dream for a young golfer with ambitions.
A bounce pad could be found in the yard, but it was hidden behind a massive training putting green.
Enter the garage and McIlroy, the 2014 Open champion, had his very own golf simulator.
Father Gerry had converted the area into a studio, where a young McIlroy with curly hair could analyze his swing and ball-striking with the help of two televisions connected to the system.
And, when he wanted to implement that, Holywood Golf was only a 20-minute stroll away from the residence.
NOVICE PURCHASER
When McIlroy moved away from the family residence, it wasn’t your typical property for a first-time purchaser.
McIlroy purchased Robinhall House in Moneyreagh, County Down, which currently has an approximate value of £3m.
McIlroy now has no need for a golf simulator as he has his own massive practice area with seven bunkers, a 14-acre property, and a green putting range with a personal driving range.
Caroline Wozniacki, a previous top-ranked player and then romantic partner, had the opportunity to engage in matches with him on the expansive tennis court, enjoy the presence of a lake teeming with 1,200 trout, relax in the outdoor hot tub, and indulge in some leisure time at the cinema.
McIlroy sold the property in 2013 for approximately £2.5m as he flew to the United States.
American Ideal
McIlroy’s relocation to the United States resulted in the four-time major champion indulging in a breathtaking mansion in Florida.
The residence in Palm Beach Gardens included six bedrooms, a fitness center, an outdoor pool, and, naturally, a golf course.
An expansive lounge space extended to a serene patio with couches that are nestled beside the swimming pool.
The estate was constructed in a manner that allowed the water to intersect with the side of the residence and cascade towards a water feature.
Among the NINE bathrooms is the en suite for the master bedroom which boasts a whirlpool in the centre of the room.
A private fitness center included a complete weights area, bicycle, running machine, and large TV screen on a wall-sized reflection.
McIlroy could relax in a recreational room, equipped with a billiards table, that had large sliding doors leading to the pool area.
However, he evidently desired a change of surroundings and relocated to Els’ former abode instead.
