Jim Carrey will reprise his role as the beloved character from Dr. Seuss’s The Grinch in The Grinch 2.

Sequels to The Grinch 2, in which Jim Carrey stars as the famous and ill-tempered character Dr. Seuss’s creation, Sonic the Hedgehog, are currently uncertain. It appears that Jim Carrey’s willingness to appear in recent sequels continues to swell, but it is unclear at the moment exactly what size his heart will be when he returns to stealing Christmas as the Grinch once again, after an absence of over 20 years. However, trusted sources have proven that Carrey is indeed returning to Universal Pictures for The Grinch 2.
At that particular moment, I found myself almost repeating myself, but I enjoyed doing so because the characters were well-done. I have at least two sequels in mind, as the commerce aspect plays a major role in the success of these films. However, many years later, the actor famously swore off appearing in any sequels to his movies, specifically in reference to his role in Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, filmed in 1995. It was not long ago that Jim Carrey may have considered returning for The Grinch.
The creation of The Grinch 2, therefore it appears that something has shifted for Jim Carrey in the past ten years or so. Nonetheless, he quickly emerged as one of the most popular attractions at the box office during the 1990s and (following The Truman Show and Man on the Moon) a highly praised actor who could potentially surpass them if he decided to. This likely did not improve the likelihood of Jim Carrey’s follow-up movies.
It seems almost certain that Jim Carrey, known for his role as the Grinch, would like to make a sequel similar to 2003’s Bruce Almighty, in which he was not involved. Additionally, he has announced a sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog, possibly without the involvement of Steve Carrell (who did not participate in the prequel to Dumb and Dumber, starring Jim Carrey, in 1994). These recent years have seen Jim Carrey starring in various sequels.
The Grinch, starring Jim Carrey, was a box office success, but it was later surpassed by Benedict Cumberbatch’s animated version years later. However, the Grinch’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas, directed by Ron Howard, also made $345 million and became the second highest-grossing Christmas movie after Home Alone. The process of creating the Grinch’s insane makeup (which required Jim Carrey to wear prosthetics for hours) was reportedly lengthy and arduous for everyone involved.
That is a movie we would like to see, even if he has to go through makeup again. The Halloween special, “The Grinch Night,” followed the little-remembered 1977 animated ABC movie, in which the inhabitants of Whoville are terrorized by a misanthrope mountain-dwelling on the spookiest nights. It does not have to be the original 1966 animated movie, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” for there to be a possibly new Christmas story involving the Grinch defending Christmas from some new threat, so it is likely that Jim Carrey will return for “The Grinch 2.”
