Joe Burrow, the LSU passer, emerged victorious with a total of 2,608 points and 841 votes, surpassing Ohio State’s defensive end Chase Young and Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields.

Previously holding the top spot on the active lineup, Jalen Hurts found himself in a quarterback situation alongside Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones, both of whom later emerged as Heisman Trophy contenders and starting quarterbacks in the league.

Jalen Hurts, a junior quarterback, served as the starting quarterback for the team and played as the second-string quarterback for Alabama, where he attended. He played for two years as the starting quarterback for the team. Later, he transferred to Oklahoma, where he inherited Kyler Murray’s position and played his senior year.

In a single competition, Jalen Hurts became the initial athlete in the Alabama historical records to pass for 300 yards and rush for 100 yards. Additionally, he achieved the distinction of being the first thrower to accumulate 120+ yards on the ground in multiple matches and the inaugural quarterback, under the guidance of Nick Saban, to amass over 11 rushing touchdowns in a single season.

During his solitary tenure at Oklahoma, Hurts emerged as the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy. As a signal-caller, he set the university’s record for most points scored in a single season with a remarkable total of 126.

Hurts, who was named the 2019-20 Big 12 Male Athlete of the Year, was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the NFL Draft.
