Whether you’re a fan or not, Beyonce’s 2016 Super Bowl show (and the events that ensued) was a memorable experience.
Some were against and some were in support. Although no one would ever question Beyonce’s political statement, everyone’s eye was caught by her prowess on stage. Coldplay might have headlined the Super Bowl, but Beyonce ended up stealing the show.

It was a bold choice for the singer, clear from her usual style and departure. Buzz was already picking up, with everyone focused on her 2016 single ‘Formation’ released a day before the event.
Beyonce, a car cop in New Orleans, literally sinks as she celebrates her femininity and black heritage. While her message is clear – a political statement and a celebration of black culture – it has irked a few of her fans.
As the performance of the Super Bowl progresses, we see a kid dancing in front of the cops while the car is completely submerged, perfectly complementing the lyrics and images in the music video.
Beyonce surprised everyone by taking the stage for the Black Panther Party wearing an outfit inspired by Michael Jackson, accompanied by black female backup dancers wearing berets. The scene was completely unexpected.
To those unaware, the party is an organization “with an ideology of black nationalism, socialism, and armed self-defense, particularly against police brutality.”.
The group was formed in Oakland, approximately 40 miles from the venue where the game between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers was played at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
When emphasizing the change in gravitational force, the emotional impact on the fans remained evident after the show. As a nod to the Black Panthers’ statue, they raised their fists in the air, indicating that the dress was not enough.
The dancers were also seen speaking up for 26-year-old X Malcolm, a black civil rights leader who had been shot dead. Furthermore, they paid tribute to him even though he was killed by the San Francisco police.
Her iconic attire, undoubtedly, was clearly a tribute to Jackson’s 1993 Super Bowl performance.
Not all individuals were pleased with Beyonce
There was immediate backlash that accompanied the enormous surge of backing.
Former mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani, was furious, describing her performance as ‘anti-law enforcement’.
He described the show as ‘absurd’, adding:
Much-needed awareness spread to use not might Beyonce like someone all, artist the praised Abdullah Melina activist Matter Lives Black like Others.
People initiated a ‘#BoycottBeyonce’ hashtag on Twitter, subsequently arranging an anti-Beyonce gathering. In the end, no individuals appeared for the event.
Some even pointed their fingers at the outfit she wore, convinced that the dress was not well-suited for family-friendly viewings due to its low-cut and leather features.
Beyonce clarified and remained firm in her Super Bowl performance in a subsequent statement.
During an interview with Elle, Beyonce spoke about the claims made by people who are completely mistaken about the term ‘anti-police’, according to native Texans.
Beyonce continued:.
Ultimately, Beyonce maintained her pride in their song and the ensuing dialogue it sparked.
If you take a look at her work in the same year, including her album ‘Lemonade’, you’ll see that she not only kicked off a new chapter as a performer but also as an artist, with her performance at the Super Bowl.
