Deputies were the first to respond to a report of a shooting in the neighborhood at 11 a.M. On Wednesday, where they found a woman who had been shot and killed. The vehicle was parked in the same location where the incident occurred, and it did not resemble a news vehicle.
Mina stated that Nathacha Augustin, the female individual, who investigators suspect, was a familiar associate of Moses. Mina mentioned that the detectives had recognized him as the potential perpetrator in the incident when he came back to the location.
“Our local neighborhood and our journalistic allies,” the sheriff expressed, “today has been an incredibly dreadful day.” “Within our close-knit community, no mother, no 9-year-old child, and especially no members of the news industry should experience the devastating consequences of firearm-related aggression,” he further stated.
The 19-year-old has been charged with grand theft, burglary with a deadly weapon, and aggravated assault and battery, which includes a “lengthy criminal history,” said the sheriff. Moses remains in jail without bond as of Thursday, said the sheriff. Additional charges are expected. The establishment did not acknowledge his adolescent record, referring to Florida laws that mandate such documents to be private.
“We are looking forward to working with our law enforcement partners to ensure accountability in this unfathomable tragedy related to yesterday’s shooting in Pine Hills,” said the state’s attorney’s office.
She stated that outside of Orlando’s WESH 2 Medical Regional Hospital, journalist Luana Munoz broke the scene, describing it as a gathering of fellow journalists who were also grieving and shooting the cover together.
Munoz said, “This is like a nightmare where we go home at night and something happens that is absolutely worse than any reporter’s worst fear. It is really difficult to cover this.”
