5 Best Shoes for Disney World: Advice From a Theme Park Blogger [2023]

My individual footwear adventure

Rachel, my assistant physician, happened to be an orthopedic specialist. When she dragged me along on one of my recent trips to Disneyland, I began searching for the perfect shoe for the theme park.

On this specific Disney excursion, I opted to bring my beloved set of AllBirds shoes.

Rachel brought her On Clouds shoes.

Despite the criticism, I assured her that I would be fine all day long, particularly because I blew off this course and I knew that she would scold me immediately upon her arrival for my choice of footwear, accusing me of lacking cute and comfy AllBirds.

However, as she had foreseen, after a few hours, my feet were pulsating, enlarged, and covered in scabs.

I ended up buying a backup pair of shoes in the park because I was in so much pain. In fact, I was in so much pain that buying a backup pair of shoes in the park ended up giving me fresh blisters just as painful as the ones I already had.

Meanwhile, Rachel and her stylish On Cloud sneakers ended the day successfully.

I don’t appreciate it when she’s correct.

Today, I am a more mature and knowledgeable blogger. I’ve gained wisdom from my previous errors.

And now, beloved reader, I’ve chosen to disclose my discoveries with you.

There may be some options that are a little expensive. If you will, these are the G.O.A.T’s – the finest shoes, this is a compilation of. It’s not just a compilation of decent shoes. Make sure to keep this in mind.

I cannot personally endorse them, although I will also include a concise compilation of budget-friendly brands that have received positive feedback towards the end of this article. Additionally,

The pictures below are modeled by real-life people who recommend and love the footwear mentioned in this list. I don’t actually know anyone who wears these shoes, nor do I mention specific individuals where generic articles of shoes are concerned. This isn’t going to be one of those generic articles. 1. Hokas

I’m going to begin with my personal favorite amusement park footwear – the Hoka.

In my view, these are the most cozy footwear on this complete catalogue.

I can confidently say that these shoes are good for both my job and exercise, as someone who relies on comfortable footwear for years of pain-free walking.

Additionally, there is a wide range of styles available to cater to almost any individual preference or requirement.

Some Hokas are also waterproof, perfect for water rides. Some feature slip-resistant technology. Others have memory foam collars for added comfort.

Among all the options listed, these shoes offer the highest level of cushioning. In reality, if you prefer additional padding and moderate assistance, Hoka Trail Runners are likely the ideal choice for you, just like they are for me.

I believe the technical term for the action I am describing is known as “supinate,” which is characterized by walking with a slight lean towards the right edge of my foot due to a leg that is slightly bowed and feet that are relatively flat.

I often recognize that both of these reasons require me to find competitor brands that provide high levels of support, as they cause pain and tend to arch too high or are too hard on my heels.

I have only been wearing Hokas, as I personally found that they provide the right amount of support to manage my gait correctly, even when my arches feel worse.

The average Hoka will run anywhere between $120-$250 on Amazon and at Hoka.com.

I recommend looking at the different options and styles that Hoka offers for running on either the Running Road or the Running Trail. Personally, I own the Stinson 6, which is designed for theme parks.

Hokas have a precise fit in terms of size, although they are a bit narrow – so if you are unsure, it is advisable to purchase a wide pair.

2. Up in the Sky

My friend Rachel, the previously mentioned orthopedic physician’s assistant, strongly believes in her On Clouds.

These shoes are her constant companions as she walks through her work day, tagging along with me on theme park treks and keeping her feet constantly supported.

The upper mesh of engineered models has a breathability feature, which she loves the most. These shoes from Hoka also tend to have better overall arch support, but they are slightly less cushiony as a whole.

She always says Hokas are for people who love cushiony support, and On Clouds are for those who prefer a firm arch.

They can reach a maximum of $400. However, on Amazon, the average cost of On Clouds falls between $120 and $200. Similar to the mentioned Hokas, the price tag is the main disadvantage of On Clouds.

But if you’re constantly on your feet like we are – the proper footwear is worth every cent.

With this brand, it’s generally advised to round up if you’re in between half sizes. True to size, also run on clouds.

3. Brooks Jogging

If you’re in the market for a great trail runner, you might want to check out Brooks Running shoes. They offer more stability with a thicker midsole and a wider toe box, making them a great option for people with wider feet. Additionally, they provide excellent cushioning for a comfortable running experience.

My mother, a passionate trekker, strongly believes in this brand.

She also raves about their durability. My mom’s pair (pictured above) has endured hundreds of miles of trails, still holding up after about seven years.

Brooks Running, similar to the others on this list, also costs between $99-$200 on Amazon but they have a long lifespan.

These, similar to the other brands discussed in this article, also fit accurately.

4. Walking Champion

I additionally possess these shoes.

And they have become my second choice after my Hokas.

According to the website of Heros Walk, the company was designed for people who suffer from knee pain and heel spurs, flat feet, heel pain, and plantar fasciitis.

They have excellent arch support – just like the previously mentioned On Clouds – with a surprisingly spacious toe area.

We can both comfortably wear these shoes, however, she has wide feet while I have narrow feet. My aunt also owns a pair.

I also appreciate the fact that they are accessible in understated color palettes that complement any ensemble.

I appreciate the fact that the majority of Heros Walk is available in simple gray and white. It can be difficult to find orthotics athletic in a simple pair of white or black. If I had one major complaint about the brand Hoka, it’s the fact that my footwear never quite matches my outfit and I don’t like how it feels.

The under-over technique, utilizing the laces, was able to mostly rectify this problem. The tongue appears slightly oversized and occasionally shifts during extended walks, which was my sole criticism of this footwear.

Taking into account the cost savings, I presume that it is a worthwhile compromise for many individuals. The Hoka alternatives are priced approximately $100 lower than their counterparts, ranging from $68 to $80, although they are not as cushioned as my Hokas.

These sneakers are currently available at $68-$80 on the Walk Hero website. The Walk Hero brand can also be found on Amazon.

5. Hello Guys

She warns that you should not use shoes with flimsy soles for long-term use as they can easily bend into a U-shape. In fact, my orthopedic friend in PA did not approve this as the final pick, so it is clear.

And it is indeed accurate that sports shoes will always offer the optimum support and comfort during a Disney getaway.

Nevertheless, I desired to conclude this post with at least one lightweight, budget-friendly, non-sneaker alternative.

This particular option is most suitable for individuals who, like me, typically don’t engage in much walking around the parks or prioritize arch support, but are primarily concerned about the heat.

You can purchase multiple pairs in various colors without spending a fortune, which makes it an excellent choice for Disney bounding outfits as well.

While these shoes fail the U-bend support test, they are ultra ultra ULTRA lightweight and surprisingly comfortable – especially for a loafer.

It is ultimately the main reason they made the list, and it’s always nice to find a lighter-weight shoe, which is as-heck hot for packing as well as Florida, in fact. You’d think I would be pressed hard to find it.

These footwear options would probably be my preferred selection for spending half a day at Disney Springs instead of a full day at the theme park.

On Amazon, Hey Dudes can be purchased at a highly affordable price range of $30-$70, regardless. However, not all of them feature leather footbeds. Opting for the leather footbed is recommended as it adds value worth an additional $5-$10.

Hey Dudes, if they don’t come in half sizes, and you normally wear a half size, you might want to sweat it out and plan on sizing up to ensure a true fit.

Well-liked affordable choices on Amazon

I wanted to wrap up this article with a list of popular value brands for those on a budget, as I promised. While I cannot personally vouch for most of these, Amazon has over 10,000 positive reviews for them at the very least.

And with such a large number of satisfied clients, I would say that the majority of these options are probably reliable choices.

Here are a few of Amazon’s top choices for the best walking shoes for both men and women.

  • Salomon SpeedCross 4 (Men’s and Women’s) shoes.
  • Skechers Go Walk (Men’s and Women’s) shoes.
  • ASICS Gel-Venture (for both Men and Women).
  • New Balance Footwear (Men’s Trail Running Shoes and Women’s Training Shoes).
  • After covering a few miles, exposed feet are seldom content feet. Additionally, don’t forget to complement your footwear collection with a set of cozy, practical socks. If uncertain, seek out a nearby shoe boutique and experiment with various options until you discover your perfect match.
